The Difference of Executive Function in ADHD Children with and without Depression

Abstract
Objectives£ºThis study was intended to investigate differences of executive function, between ADHD with deression group(ADHD/D) and ADHD without depression group(ADHD).

Methods£º18 children with ADHD/D and 18 children with ADHD were sampled. Using CPT, Stroop test, WCST, visual and auditory attention, inhibitory ability, planning and organization ability was tested.

Results£ºThe result shows that ADHD/D was performed poorer than ADHD in visual and auditory attention, inhibitory ability, and planning and organization ability. In CPT, ADHD/D did more omission errors than ADHD in auditory and visual CPT, and it took more time for ADHD/D to react than ADHD. In Stroop test, ADHD/D took more time to react than ADHD. In Wisconsin Card Sorting Test, ADHD/D got more total trials, perseverative response, perseverative errors than ADHD.

Conclusion£ºADHD/D have difficulty in getting sustained and selective attention, making a self-decision in the new situation, and was insufficient of inhibitory ability, compared to ADHD. Through these results, we suggest the characteristics of ADHD/D children and those of ADHD children are different.
